Camelbak Mule - December 2010 - MBR

One small piece of good news for 2011: all Camelbak trail packs, including the Mule here, will come with new £33 Antidote reservoir fitted as standard. This features a new Quick-snap cap, which opens in just a quater turn. On the previous model you needed thumbs of iron or one of those plastic reservoir cap tools just to unscrew the thing. Cleaning and just filling the reservoir is no longer a challenge and also much quicker; handy if you want to get out of the door in a rush for an evening ride.

The Mule is the perfect size for my trail kit and there's still space to spare if I need to stash a waterproof mid ride. The new version is more comfortable and feels more stable but it wasn't too bad in the first place. With the new reservoir it's easier and quicker to fill (and clean), feels more integrated, is 30g lighter but only £5 more expensive. Is it the ultimate trail pack? It's going to take some beating.
