Q:
How do I reset my computer?
A:
You will need to refer to your user manual, which is supplied with your computer. Alternatively, you can visit www.cateye.com. In the sites pages you will find in PDF file format for all models.
Q:
How do I re-input my ODO?
A:
This function can only be performed on certain models. Please refer to your computers manual, or you can visit www.cateye.com and in the pages you will find in PDF file format.
Q:
I have lost my Cateye Computer Manual. Where can I get another?
A:
If you visit the Cateye Website www.cateye.com, follow the link to and click on and you should be able to download a PDF manual for your computer.
Q:
Can I get a replacement Sensor for my computer?
A:
Yes. If you have either a wireless computer or a wired (corded) computer, you can purchase replacement fitting kits and kits, which will allow you to use one head unit on two or more bikes. Visit www.zyro.co.uk to find out what Cateye products are available in the UK & Republic of Ireland.
Q:
The wheel circumference chart in my instructions does not list my specific tyre size. Where can I get this measurement?
A:
You are going to have to measure your tyres circumference (if not debossed/printed on the tyre) and input that as your wheel size. The easiest way to measure your own tyre is to lay a tape measure on the floor, mark your tyre or use the tube valve as your start point. Walk the bike forward one whole revolution and take the centimetre or millimetre measurement from the tape measure. If your computer only has 3 digits to input, then this is in centimetres or 4 digits means it’s in millimetres. This method will also give you the most accurate readings possible.
Q:
I cannot seem to change from KPH mode to MPH, or change from MPH to KPH on my Micro Wireless computer. Am I doing something wrong?
A:
You need to make sure that there is no data on the computer except your total distance (ODO). Remember you have two tyre sizes; therefore have two sets of information which need deleting. Once all this information is cleared, you will be able to convert your total Miles to Kilometres, or vice-versa.
Q:
The digits on my display are hard to read. What should I do?
A:
If the display is faint from all angles, you will need to replace the battery in the head unit. This might also be a good time to replace the sensor battery if you have a wireless system. If the digits are hard to read while riding, try adjusting the angle of the head unit.
Q:
A letter “E” has appeared on my computer screen and/or some of the functions don’t appear to be working. Why is this?
A:
Your Auto Start/Stop function has been switched off. If the letter “E” has appeared, this means that the timer function has been left running, causing an error. Reset your computer (press and hold the mode button and the start/stop button together, or refer to your user manual). Then, turn on your AT function, or refer to your user manual. When this function is in operation, you will see a small AT symbol and all functions should start automatically when you turn your wheels.
Q:
Will my computer work in the rain?
A:
Yes. All Cateye computers are water resistant, but it is recommended that you dry your computer with a soft dry cloth at the earliest opportunity. If you are using a wired (corded) computer then remove the head unit from its bracket and dry the contacts. Corrosion on the pick-up points (small metal contacts) will cause the computer to stop reading the sensor signals.
Q:
Does it matter where I position the magnet and sensor on my forks?
A:
You need to make sure that the magnet passes the point marked on the sensor with about a 2 – 3 mm gap. If you are using a wired (corded) computer, then the distance of the sensor from the head unit up or down the fork does not matter. If you are using a wireless system, then check the manual for the maximum distance the sensor can be from the head unit (usually 70 cm).
Q:
My British Standard LED light says it has a back up function. How does this work?
A:
A. To meet the requirements of British Standard (BS), a front light must give out a specific amount of light. Once the batteries on your light have run down, then the light will no longer function at its brightest intensity, so it will become a “back up” light automatically.
Q:
Can I use rechargeable batteries in my light?
A:
Yes you can. Though most rechargeable batteries are only 1.25 volts, rather than 1.5 volts. This may result in reduced light output and shorted run times.
Q:
I have noticed that my battery capacity indicator light has been coming on earlier
A:
If the ambient temperature drops, this can result in a lower overall battery voltage. This can cause the indicator light to be triggered, possibly indicating that your battery capacity and voltage is reduced due to age or condition of the battery. It is recommended to replace your battery at this point with a new one.
Q:
I have noticed my actual run time has been reduced recently. What could this
A:
If the ambient temperature is quite low, this may result in a shorter run time than expected. This also may be an indication that your battery is coming to the end of its natural life, so a replacement battery will need to be purchased. If the run time is significantly short overnight/after charging, check that you did not over discharge your battery and that your charger is functioning correctly.
Q:
How should I store my RECHARGEABLE BATTERY during summer or when not in use?
A:
A. It is advisable to always store your rechargeable batteries fully charged in a cool, dry place, but we would recommend if the battery is unused for 2 months, to discharge (run until the light dies out), then immediately fully recharge. Repeat discharge/recharge every 2 months if you rarely use your lights.
Polite Note: The more you use your lights, the better condition your batteries will stay in. For more information, go to www.cateye.com and refer to Cateye’s pages.
