Q:
What Is SLS Padding?
A:
SLS stands for Supportive Lightweight Structure. Meaning the foam inside the
cover offers the correct amount of support, but at the same time is comfortable for all-day and everyday use. The foam has a very high air content and cut outs, making it extremely light but with no detriment to comfort.
Q:
Is My Saddle Waterproof?
A:
All Bodyfit saddles are 100% waterproof. The synthetic cover is one piece and molded to the saddle, therefore no water can penetrate to the layers below. The covering on Intake saddles is waterproof, however due to the stitching on the Airflow saddles, water could penetrate through the stitching to the layer beneath the cover.
Q:
What Is Microfibre?
A:
Microfibre is a synthetic leather material. It behaves in exactly the same way as leather, as in it has high water repellence properties, yet is breathable and comfortable. Microfibre has the advantage that it will adapt to any form instantaneously and is not affected by climatic conditions.
Q:
Why Are Male And Female Saddles Different?
A:
The Male and Female pelvis are different, for obvious reasons, and Bodyfit and Intake saddles are anatomically-designed with these differences in mind. The female sit bones are slightly wider apart so the gel inserts are appropriately placed in the correct positions on the female range. Likewise as the rider’s position becomes more dynamic (i.e. forward) the sit bones move closer together. The higher end saddles are designed with this in mind so will be just as comfortable for the rider while they are seated in a more race like position. Unisex saddles tend to be much wider with a very comfortable foam padding that makes the saddle fit the male and female form equally well.
Q:
Do I Need A Universal Clamp?
A:
If your bike’s seatpost is straight with nothing at the top, i.e. it’s a stub, then you will need a universal seatclamp, available on some of the Bodyfit Unisex saddles. The clamp tightens onto the stub seatpost using a spanner. Most seatposts have a clamp on the seatpost which clamps onto the rails of the saddle. You will need to remove the universal clamp to fit to this kind of seatpost. The seatpost clamp then tightens to the rails while adjusting angle and position.
Q:
What Position Should My Saddle Be In?
A:
To start with, a neutral position should be adopted, i.e. the clamp should be fitted mid way along the rails and the top of the saddle should be roughly horizontal. After riding the bike you can further adjust the position by moving the saddle forward/backwards along the rails and tilting the nose of the saddle up and down to suit you.
